Status Update
Efforts to Establish a Permanent or Part-Time Traffic Enforcement Unit Have Not Yet Reduced Crashes: Despite the potential for a permanent unit to achieve sustained crash reductions within months through consistent, data-driven enforcement, and a part-time unit to show initial reductions within 3–6 months with high-visibility, targeted efforts, our current implementation has not yet resulted in reduced crashes, likely requiring more consistent scheduling and time (up to a year) for sustained impact.
Next Steps
Secure Funding for Permanent Traffic Enforcement Unit: Identify and allocate budget resources to support dedicated hiring, training, and operational needs for establishing the permanent Traffic Enforcement Unit, as outlined in the staffing analysis action plan.
